Pipelines SCADA

SENSA makes this solution available to handle the strategic activities of transportation and distribution of hydrocarbons to oil facilities.

The reasons for which a pipeline may cause a spill such as pipelines ruptures are due to mechanical factors, corrosion, or provoked by third parties for illegal extraction. In all cases, besides causing highly expensive inefficiencies, they may cause severe patrimonial and environmental damages.

Because of the importance of its objectives, such as reception, sales, and distribution, as well as the risks entailed by this process, it is vital to have the proper monitoring elements that enable the timely detection of the events that cause a malfunction and the environmental risks that may be provoked due to pipeline ruptures.

For this reason, the Pipelines SCADA solution integrates cutting-edge tools complying to standards, norms, and international certifications that help to the true fulfillment of the measurements and detections along the pipeline, providing great benefit regarding the prevention of potential risks to the population and improving the efficiency indexes of the transportation and distribution operations.

The Pipelines SCADA solution consists of 3 automation elements:

1) Supervisory Control Sub-system

 2) Control and Data Acquisition System

The application of this sub-system is intended to satisfy the monitoring needs at the stations serviced along the pipeline, as well as to establish the connectivity with the local or wide area control centers in order to send the variables related to the transportation and distribution processes; such processes are usually located in the pipeline section of the facilities.

The supervisory control sub-system is the interface between the user and the equipment in field and is composed of the computing equipment and the monitoring and control software which uses specific screens to enable the monitoring of the transportation and distribution processes. A set of libraries suitable for the process, enable the developing of screens according to the needs of each facility.

It is composed of remote terminals units for supervision and control, to be used in superficial stations, or well, flow meters for serviced stations where it is essential to provide adequate precision for custody transfer.

The provided equipment comply with international standards and norms and have the necessary certifications to process flow calculations. The system incorporates the information coming from the instruments in field using current loops or communications media.

3) Communications Sub-systems

Include switches, routers, and serial communication or fiber optics interfaces as possible alternatives to incorporate the systems of the serviced stations and radio or satellite communication equipment in order to integrate the data of the superficial stations along the pipeline.

A set of communications protocols, such as HART, MODBUS RTU, MODBUS PEMEX, adequately complement the technical requirements of this solution.

A group of professionals with high experience in the automation field complement our range of services for the integration of these services, offering the construction of the necessary electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering infrastructure.
